Bigger changes on inner-space

Tue Jan 23, 2007, 2:43 PM
INNER-SPACE DESERVES BETTER

It has been a long time since something happened in the inner space group. Guess most of you realized that the quality of artworks published here in the group grew worse. A few months ago things were published that I would call "the first steps of someone new to spaceart". I don't claim that my work that I did for the group is good either... but where have those overwhelming artists gone? Where did they go? I have been thinking about that for some time and found one reason that - at least - that got me to not publish any work to the inner space group: if a group looses the quality and activity it can't be that good. So for me there was no more reason to be proud of being a member of that group. Maybe it was the same with you?!

So here are a few things that I'd like to introduce since I was asked to be admin of the inner-space group here on dA. Thank you for offering me the job, it makes me proud, and I am happy that I can maybe - I really hope so - help to get that group running again. But for all that plans I need your support, your opinions, your ideas and your activity.

THINGS THAT I PLANNED FOR THE GROUP

1) First of all every artwork that was submitted to the group will stay here.
2) All members that were accepted so far will stay members as long as they want to.
3) A maximum of 2 artworks per week will be accepted from each member. No more but less.
4) New artworks that are not yet submitted or will be submitted in the future will be reviewed and that may take some time. Please be a little patient. We just want to take care about the quality. If one artwork is not accepted we will tell you exactly why. We want you to be able to redo or improve the work that you did and you should feel encouraged to do better to get it submitted over here.
5) New members can only apply under following circumstances:
5.1) They must send in an "application" (I will include one "form" for new member that they should send us in an email or per pm)
5.2) New members should at least have one or two works that they want to be published as their introduction to innerspace.
5.3) The benefits: New members - if accepted - will be featured in one issue of the journal.
5.4) Member will be able to take part in a contest that will be held on dA every 3 months. So far, I will give a 3 month subscription to the winner. 2nd and 3rd place winners will get a nice, special feature together with the first place. If anyone would like and can help me with paying these things please feel free to... I am going to publish my paypal account so that anybody can send me money if you want to support the group.

FUTURE POSSIBILITIES

1) I want to set up an inner-space website. Every one that want's to be featured there can be featured. There is enough room and space available there. The way I'll present that website is something that I will show to you soon. An international domain will be reserved and things will be published usually in English. If anyone would like to help me with localized versions please consider to do that.
2) Maybe I can also publish a printed inner-space magazine if I can find enough sponsors. That inner-space should be affordable for everyone.
3) It might be really a high aim that I have now, but I want that website to become well known among other digital artists and hopefully although among industry partners. So what I would like to do is interviewing some of the leading artists on dA every two months and publish the interview on that website.
4) Resources for download could either be published on dA as well or on the website.
5) Further things to come... ideas are very welcome of course.

THE POLL

Dear members of inner-space. Please take part in the following poll because this will influence the future of the whole group.
Friends, members, and aliens, just in general, do you want me to keep the group up with the conditions I mentioned to you? If you want me to do that, vote for this new concept. If you have any suggestions, further ideas, or want things to go to in a different direction, please consider telling me that either by pm or leave me a note in the journal.

Thank you a lot for reading all that stuff.

Yours,
Ben [admin of inner-space]

"but where have those overwhelming artists gone?"

Its pretty obvious... they went to space.

Nice work you got there. Is there any tutorials or help with getting started working on space art?
